The Decom Mission Innovation in Decommissioning Award was awarded to James Fisher Decommissioning (JF Decom) at this year’s Decom Week event for the recently launched SEABASS system. The award is presented to a company that, in the last 12 months, pioneered a new solution to a late-life or decommissioning problem or project, which has resulted in material benefits.

Situated typically on a vessel, the SEABASS system provides an environmental barrier to single or multiple annuli in one trip. The SEABASS system is designed to deliver time savings of up to 25 percent when compared to competing solutions, thanks to a reduced operational period that has the additional benefit of decreasing a project's carbon footprint.

Richard Henderson, Director of Engineering at James Fisher Decommissioning had this to say about the award…

It was an honour for James Fisher Decommissioning to receive the award for Innovation from Decom Mission and a credit to the team involved for their hard work and dedication to bring SEABASS to fruition. The SEABASS tool was created through a combination of industry experience and discussions with operators, and vessel companies, with the aim to create the optimal solution that provides cost efficiency and reliability to well abandonment. It's good to see that its capabilities are being recognised on such a prominent stage. The Decom Mission week was a superb, well-attended event with some excellent presentations, a pleasure to be a part of.”

The addition of the SEABASS capability to JF Decom’s product and service portfolio further solidifies its position as a leading innovator in the decommissioning market. We look forward to furthering the good work completed by SEABASS in the near future.
